18 Bandidos Members Charged After Kwinana Freeway Incident in Perth's Southern Suburbs
In a recent incident that unfolded on Friday evening in Perth's southern suburbs, 18 patched members of the Bandidos outlaw motorcycle gang (OMCG) found themselves in legal hot water. The incident began when police received a report of a large group of riders congregating at a petrol station on Safety Bay Road, around 5:25 pm.
The police, including the Police Air Wing, were dispatched to the scene, where they observed the group riding recklessly in a convoy on the Kwinana Freeway, heading north. Despite activating lights and sirens, the riders allegedly failed to stop and continued at an excessive speed.
The situation escalated when two of the riders blocked the police vehicles, prompting the rest of the group to continue riding. However, police intervened by stopping traffic on the freeway near Millar Road in Baldivis, forcing the group to halt and causing significant traffic congestion.
As a result, 18 men, aged between 26 and 56, were arrested and their motorcycles were seized. Gang Crime Squad detectives charged all 18 with reckless driving to escape police pursuit and failing to comply with a direction to stop. Additionally, two of the men, aged 41 and 44, were charged with obstructing public officers.
The men are scheduled to appear in court between January 28 and February 9, facing potential legal consequences for their actions during this incident.
