Sometimes, fate has a way of delivering the most unexpected gifts, and for Claire Carty, that gift came in the form of a dream car and a life-changing sum of money. It's a story that tugs at the heartstrings, reminding us of the enduring bonds of family and the dreams we carry with us. Claire, a resident of Liverpool, recently found herself the lucky winner of a Lotus Emira and a cool £100,000 in a competition. But this wasn't just any win; for Claire, it felt like a message from beyond.
Claire believes this incredible stroke of luck was a special gift from her late father, Michael, who was a devoted fan of the British sports car manufacturer. His passion for Lotus cars was a significant part of her childhood, especially since his first car was a Lotus Cortina. She fondly recalls how his hero was the legendary racer Jim Clark, making owning a Lotus his ultimate dream.
"It felt like fate," Claire explained, reflecting on the moment she discovered her win. She added that it was "a gift from Dad." Claire, a retail manager, shared that her father had been forced to sell his beloved Lotus and always yearned to own one again. The timing of the win, coinciding with Omaze giving away a Lotus, felt incredibly significant. "I've always said everything happens for a reason – and of all the months to win with Omaze, it was the month they were giving away a Lotus. It really does feel like it was meant to be," she said.
But here's where it gets controversial... While Claire enjoys the thrill of driving the car, she plans to sell it and use the cash for other purposes. The new Lotus Emira is the last petrol-powered sports car to be built by the manufacturer. The £100,000 prize money, along with the proceeds from the car's sale, will make a massive difference in her life. She's already treated herself to a new BMW X3 M Sport, which is perfect for her work and family needs.
Claire describes the win as "completely life-changing." She plans to use the money for home improvements, a trip to Disney World with her son, and a vacation to Hawaii.
This prize was part of the Omaze Million Pound House Draw, supporting the breast cancer research charity Breast Cancer Now. James Oakes, the president of Omaze, expressed his delight, saying, "We're delighted that Claire got to fulfil her late father's dream of owning a Lotus again, and we're thrilled this win will help her and her family make some wonderful memories together."
